Patient Experiences During COVID-19 When Visiting Altus Lumberton Hospital
What has your experience been like visiting our hospital ER? This is a question that top-rated hospitals will ask their patients to ensure quality patient experience. Since March 2020, this question has become far more complex as well as serious due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
From the beginning, when the COVID-19 virus first appeared, there has been a whirlwind of controversy and many more questions than answers. The world went through a massive realization that we are all interconnected. We are not alone as what happens in one part of the world can ultimately affect the whole. However, it has also been a time of coming together in a tremendous effort to safeguard our families, friends, and the whole of humanity. Suddenly, unsung heroes began to spring up all over the world, those on the front line, our first-responders and healthcare workers. Likewise, there have been individuals, organizations, and businesses who also stood up and reached out to help others during these trying times.
How can you tell if a hospital is a safe, caring, effective place to go these days?
Since it’s inception, Altus Lumberton Hospital, part of the Altus Health family has striven throughout the years, to ensure Hardin county access to quality ER care. Now more than ever before, standing alongside the community has become crucial. We took a look back since March 2020 to present-day to examine the quality levels of patient experiences During COVID-19.
What we found was eyeopening. Healthcare workers focus on helping each patient get well during that crucial moment that they come into the hospital. Very rarely do they get to understand the difference that those critical moments made in someone’s life.
Thank you to each and every patient that has trusted in us as a safe hospital to come and get ER care. We vow to continue to work 24/7/365 days to keep you safe and well! Today, we share some of the real testimonials of patients visiting Altus Lumberton Hospital during COVID-19.

This hospital/ emergency services is absolutely refreshing and totally a great facility. The team of nurses and Doctors on staff here are excellent. It’s been a long time that there has been any staff with compassion concern and one on one interaction . These people truly are awesome they show the upmost care that I’ve seen in a while. They so what they tell you that are gonna do. From a personal call to you and treatment your receiving.. they actually go out of there way to get what you need and explain things to you that can be understood. My hats off to this staff and there team from the front end to the back seat an nurse. Great job in handling our emergency in your facility. And the Dr that made his self available to me by phone and in person when. I arrived. It’s ashame other hospitals can’t be more like Altus. Thank you. Renee Burton. – Renee Hanley

Wanted to give a huge shout out to this Hospital and their staff! My Mother is 82 and has dementia, she was taken by ambulance to altus on Wednesday March 4th, very weak, disoriented, lethargic, confused, she was a pretty sick little lady at the time, but from the very moment we entered the emergency room, we were welcomed with, what I would call, Love! Everyone was so concerned and so amazingly Sweet and very patient with her, while in the emergency room she had a nurse by the name of Debbie, and a male nurse, that I did not get his name, that made her feel so comfortable and so taken care of, as confused as she was, she was also scared, but not for long, because they made her feel like she was their friend and not their patient, we were only in the ER for a short time when they decided to admit her and take her upstairs to a room, again, we were met with open arms, smiles, concern and again, I’m going to say love! I appreciate the entire hospital staff, because from the receptionist at the front desk to everyone in the ER and everyone I even passed in the hallway(even the administrator and I hope I get her name right, Amanda?)they were so sweet, introducing themselves, letting me know if there was anything they could do, just to let them know, but I want to say a very very special thank you to a couple of doctors and a few nurses, who took extremely good care of my mama and I think are an exceptional group of people, Dr Goffi, Dr Farley, and the 4 nurses who treated my mom like she was their grandma, Candice, Sabrina, Ginger, and Cheyenne! These four ladies made an impression on me that I will never forget! Especially when I found out two of them were only 19! To be, not only on top of the situation right away, but to treat their patient, not just any patient… my mama! With so much love, concern and tenderness, these girls had the experience of nurses twice their age! I can say, that if my mother, who is my very best friend and my entire heart, EVER needs medical attention again I will never go anywhere else! From the bottom of my heart, Thank you All! God Bless you, there are rewards in heaven, for people who treat others with as much love and kindness as you did my mother! 💯♥️ – Donna Baker
Got me in quickly for a serious medical emergency. They were very sensitive to the reason I was there and always assured me it was ok to be feeling the way I was and gave me prompt and excellent care. – Socially So
This is my go to place when my doctors office is closed. They give the best care in the entire golden triangle imo. They’ve always gotten us in and out which is important. I hate sitting in emergency rooms for hours upon hours waiting to be treated. You won’t have to go through that here. Doctors and nurses are always so friendly and caring as well as the front desk and registration. I recommend them all the time and will continue to go there. – Shanna Loyd
Excellent care and very quick which mattered a lot to us! Allen was passing a kidney stone and said it wa the worst pain he had ever felt in his life. They had us back and hooked up to IV in no time at alll! They checked on him all through the night. TheY explained everything that was happening and what to expect. They set up the specialist for us and discharge was a breeze! If we need more medical l care, Altus will be our First Choice! Beth – Beth Kirk
